[Los Angeles, CA - October 2, 2019] – As a company that is for women, by women, NYDJ has joined forces with The Keep A Breast Foundation™ to raise awareness about breast cancer prevention and breast health education options.
NYDJ is proud to partner with the non-profit throughout Breast Cancer Awareness Month to provide education to both our customers and employees. We want to encourage women to check themselves and become their own health advocate.
Throughout the entire month of October, for every pair purchased of our best-selling style, The Marilyn Straight in Cooper & Rinse, NYDJ will donate $10.00 to The Keep A Breast Foundation™. With this donation, we aim to help get the message out by starting the conversation around early detection of breast cancer and promote women’s wellness.
As part of our Women of NYDJ program– Founder of Keep A Breast, Shaney Jo Darden, will be hosting a Lunch & Learn at the NYDJ headquarters to share her story, prevention tips, and overall breast health education and support. Additionally, on a separate occasion during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a Mammogram Truck will be on-site to offer mammograms to the employees of NYDJ. 40% of diagnosed breast cancers are detected by women who feel a lump (John Hopkins Medical Center) so these activations are extremely important.
"I'm excited to be partnering with a company whose mission is to empower women. I want to continue to work with those that inspire us to protect our own health and the health of the people that touch us." – Shaney Jo Darden, Founder, Keep A Breast.
“NYDJ has been dedicated to making women look and feel their best, and there is no better way to do so than by helping women take their health into their own hands. We are proud to partner with Keep A Breast and to help spread this important message to our loyal customers and team.” – Lisa Collier, CEO & President of NYDJ.
It is crucial to educate women of all ages, but especially young women, to self-check. Generally, women do not start getting mammograms until the age of 40, creating the illusion that breast cancer only affects women 40 and older. However, approximately 12,000 women under the age of 40 are diagnosed with breast cancer every year (National Cancer Institute). The earlier that anyone starts a more positive relationship with their body through self-checks, the better for both their physical and mental health.
NYDJ is honored to work with Keep A Breast on every effort of sharing this information and education regarding every woman’s own health journey.
About NYDJ
NYDJ jeans are made by women, for women—all shapes, all sizes, all women. Back in 2003, comfortable and flattering jeans for every woman simply did not exist. Most jeans had low waists and fit uncomfortably, and if they did fit well, they were just not stylish. Originally founded as “Not Your Daughter’s Jeans,” we set out to design jeans that fit in all the right places and make every woman feel comfortable and confident—like her best self.
