The Keep A Breast Foundation (KAB) will draw its 25th year to a close with a commemorative breast cast art exhibition in Mexico City on November 7, 2025 at Casa T’aan in Condesa, Mexico City.
The one-night-only event will feature 17 breast cast sculptures and will benefit local organizations and healthcare centers including Fundación de Cáncer de Mama, Fundación Salvati, Centro Otologico Integrado, Fundación Cima, and Pintadita a tu Salud, while celebrating Mexican artists, women of impact and breast cancer survivors who have helped to shape an enduring cross-border community and dialogue around breast health.
The evening will include artistic depictions of survival, love, loss and beyond, giving voice to experiences that connect us all. All sculptures will be available for purchase for the duration of the one-night-only event, with prices designated by the artists. Proceeds will benefit KAB’s local charity partners.
“Keep A Breast was built from art and community 25 years ago, inspired by Frida Kahlo and the power of transforming painful life moments into purpose and creating that ripple effect,” Shaney jo Darden, KAB’s Founder said. “It’s incredibly meaningful to return to Mexico, the birthplace of KAB’s artistic inspiration, and to see this movement come full circle through both art and impact. With more than 7,000 people across Mexico using the Keep A Breast App to do their breast self-exams, we’re seeing how creativity and technology together can save lives and improve breast health education.”
The exhibition will feature casts from public figures, and will include a live painting from designer and lettering artist Alina Kiliwa of the cast of actress and singer Gala Montes. The live painting will begin at 6:30 p.m.
“I’m so proud to be participating in this project, and as I’ve gotten older my appreciation for Keep A Breast’s message has only grown,” Montes said. “I think [Keep A Breast is a] very important proponent of the issue worldwide, and I'm happy to help raise awareness of this issue among young women my age. If detected early, [breast cancer] can be cured, and lives can be saved.”
Artist and breast cancer survivor Itzel Solís shared themes that inspired her for her finished cast artwork “Flor es Ser.”
“Every day I look in the mirror, I remember that to bloom is to remain…to exist and be reborn, one step at a time,” Solís said. “This was very meaningful to me because I was able to honor the journeys of all the women who fight every day for breast cancer survival, survival, and prevention through art.”
Breast cast model Sandra Monroy shared her experience of being casted as a breast cancer survivor who elected for aesthetic flat closure surgery.
“I felt proud to know there could be representation for those of us who chose to remain flat…to represent that freedom of choice, and not of ‘resignation’ or ‘victimhood,’ Monroy said. “I felt incredible during the process. Everyone was very friendly and respectful of my body. It was a beautiful, intimate experience.”
